Manic Beauty Monday - Master Precise Metallic Liquid Eye Liner and Matte Metallic Lip Color from Maybelline New York

Press Samples

Hello lovely reader. On this edition of Manic Beauty Monday, I'll be reviewing the Color Sensational Matte Metallic Lip Color in Smoked Silver and and the Master Precise Ink Metallic Liquid Liner in Cosmic Purple from Maybelline New York.

Color Sensational Matte Metallic Lip Color - Smoked Silver
This matte metallic lipstick has a finish that resembles that of brushed metal furniture, with an overall frosted look. At first glance, it looks like a gray lipstick.  However, it does have a multichromatic quality to it, with shades of gray, purple, and light blue, depending on the lighting. Despite the dark shade, it takes 2-3 coats to build up the color. My experience with color build up may be due to my darker dark olive complexion.

The formula is creamy and glides nicely. The application also wears for 2-3 hours (no eating, minor drinking!).

The shade and finish are definitively trendy. If you are going to wear this shade, you might as well go all out and pair with a smokey eye makeup!

Master Precise Ink Metallic Liquid Liner - Cosmic Purple
This liquid eye liner features a metallic purple shade and a fine tip brush. The small brush handle, combined with the fine tip brush, makes for an easy application. I can effortlessly control the thickness of my lines, and I am able to easily reapply the liner if I want a thicker line. I really like how easy it is to use, because I need all the help I can get when applying liquid liner!

This liquid eyeliner dries relatively fast and is smudge-free when tested it on my forearm. It also doesn't run under water, but it does wipe off with water.

I didn't test this for 24 hours, but I got a good 3-4 hours use without eye makeup primer.

Overall, these products deliver trendy finishes and color at affordable drugstore price points. I wish the color payoff for the lipstick was a bit better, but I have no complains on the liquid eye liner.

The Color Sensational Matte Metallic Lip Color line offers 10 shades and retails for $7.49 US. The Master Precise Ink Metallic Liquid Liner line offers  7 shades and retails for $8.99 US. Both products are available online at www.maybelline.com.

How do you feel abut matte metallics? I would love to hear from you!

These products were sent to me by Influenster and Maybelline New York free of charge in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

  8. Dude...that's the lipstick version of Huracan! It looks like they used similar pigments. The color looks a lot like the main duochrome pigment I use for it, like, como se ve en el pote, antes de yo mezclarlo con la base y otros pigmentos.
