Swatch and Review - GEL Effect Polishes by Aurora Cosmetics

Press Sample**

Hello lovely readers! Today I have swatches from the 5-free, GEL Effect nail polish line by Aurora Cosmetics.

Aurora Cosmetics is a New York-based Italian cosmetics company that offers a line of 5-free nail polishes. The GEL Effect polishes have an ultra-glossy finish that does not require a UV light. The line includes 59 polishes that range from cremes (the majority), to metallics and glitter toppers. It also includes Gel Effect top coat that is supposed to extend the life of your manicure for up to 2 weeks. I used my regular top coat for this post’s swatches (Seche Vite) to help accelerate drying time but I will review the top coat on a separate post.

I found that most of the polishes had a formula was on the thin side and required 2-3 coats for opacity and self-leveling. Individual swatches and additional information are below!

Moonlight

This is your basic white crème. It went on a bit streaky but started to self-level after the second coat. Shown below are 3 thin coats plus top coat.

Tin Foil

This is a metallic silver foil with a nice formula. Shown below are 2 coats plus top coat.

Ahu O Laka

This is a beautiful periwinkle crème. This too went on a bit streaky despite the thin formula but it eventually self-leveled. Shown below are 3 coats plus top coat.

Spring

This appropriately named crème is the perfect shade (in my humble opinion) of minty teal . This polish had one of the thicker formulas and it was nice. Shown below are 2 coats plus top coat.

Bermuda Coral

This is a Barbie-shade pink crème. This polish had a formula that was very similar to Ahu O Laka. The formula was thin and went on a bit patchy and streaky but eventually self-leveled. Shown below are 2 coats plus top coat.

Flat Tire

This is a dark brown crème with a name that does not make much sense to me! Flat tires do not come to mind when I think of luscious brown crème polishes. I, however, wonder why I do not own more shades like this! This one had one of the best formulas and it could be a one coater if you apply carefully. Shown below are 2 coats plus top coat.

Jelly Bean Red

I did it again! I saved my favorite for last! This polish is a bright bluish burgundy crème. It too had a very nice formula and it can be a one coater if you apply carefully. Shown below are 2 coats plus top coat.

Overall, I was really happy with these polishes. The colors are gorgeous, most had a nice formula and they are 5-free! I cannot wait to try out the top coat and report back so stay tuned!

These polishes retail for $12.00 and are currently on sale for $8.99 at Aurora Cosmetics.

As always, thanks for reading!
