Indie Swatch and Review - Spring 2017 Collection by Moonflower Polish (Partial)

Press Samples

Hello lovely readers! Today I'm reviewing 4 polishes from the upcoming Spring 2017 collection by
5-free indie maker Moonflower Polish.

The Spring collection is comprised of eight shimmery stamping polishes in pastel shades: Mango, Lemon, Apple, Hydrangea, Mint, Moonflower, Periwinkle, and Strawberry.

Before I share my swatches, let me tell you a little bit about the collection. The polishes are all cremes that feature subtle shimmer. Moonflower (the white polish in the collection) has the most shimmer of the four that I reviewed. Overall, the shimmer helps the color and formula pop against black and darker colors but it's not very visible once on the nail.

The colors are pastel shades that would work great for spring and summer. I loved the colors so much that I had to wear them as regular polish! Moonflower Polish polishes are optimized for stamping and other nail art techniques such as ombres, and therefore, the polishes are thicker when compared to non-stamping polish. However, I was able to do full manicures with the polishes after adding a few drops of thinner.

Below are my stamp and full swatch photos of Mint, Moonflower, Periwinkle, and Strawberry.

Mint
This is a pastel greenish blue polish. I stamped here using a plate from Born Pretty Store and a soft stamper from Fab Ur Nails. The stamp is over a black creme and topped with a glossy top coat.

The full swatch is shown as one coat over a base coat plus a glossy top coat.

Moonflower
This is a white polish with a red-gold-green shifting shimmer. I found that this one has the most shimmer and I recommend using s barrier when you stamp in order to prevent having leftover shimmer on your fingers. Also, the shimmer gives this polish a metallic quality and I can appreciate the difference between Moonflower and Dia (reviewed here). I stamped here using a clear stamper from Baroness X and a plate from Pueen Cosmetics. The stamp is over a black creme and topped with a glossy top coat.

The full swatch is shown as two coats over a base coat and topped with a glossy top coat. Although I was able to apply it as a regular polish, this one was a bit too thick and it's best for stamping and nail art.

Overall, I love this collection. The polishes stamped beautifully using different stampers and stamping plates. They also look amazing over black.

I would also like to say that I loved using them as regular polishes. Nadia, the maker behind Moonflower Polish, will be making the pre-sale polishes a bit thinner than the ones that were sent to swatchers. So, if you don't mind a thicker formula, go ahead and apply these on a full manicure. I would recommend you do apply a base coat with thee, though, as they are highly pigmented and may stain (I did not have any staining issues with my application method).

The polishes will be available at www.moonflowerpolish.com. The 15 ml bottles will retail for $9 US ($70 for the set) and the 7 ml bottles will retail for $5 US ( $38 for the set). The polishes will be available for pre-sale from May 5th through May 12th. the pre-sale will go live at 9:30 AM EDT, with an estimated turn-around time of two weeks.
