Indie Swatch and Review - Summer 2016 Collection by Octopus Party Nail Lacquer

Nothing to Disclose

Hello lovely readers! Indie nail polish maker Octopus Party Nail Lacquer (OPNL) returns to the blog with the 4-piece Summer 2016 collection.

Blest be the Tide That Binds
This is a glitter topper in a clear base. The polish features yellow, green, and blue metallic hexagonal glitters, metallic blue hex microglitter, and tiny opalescent shards. The glitter payoff is good and builds up nicely if you want to wear if on its own. I wanted to showcase all of the individual elements in this polish and chose to swatch it over Coach Ella by Fresh Paint. As with any glittery polish, you will need to soak your nails with acetone to properly remove the polish without damaging your nails! The swatch below shows two coats plus over a base color plus top coat.

Discotech
This is a mauve pink jelly featuring large and small matted glitters in orange. It is a jelly, which means that is is a translucent polish that will leave a visible nail line. The glitter payoff is excellent and the shine is phenomenal. The swatch below shows 2 coats plus top coat.

Racqueteering
This neon crème features a color that is a cross between yellow and chartreuse green. The formula self-levels better than your typical neon yellow crème. However, I still need two to three coats of polish to evenly cover due to the vertical ridges in my nails. I think I will use a ridge-filling base coat next time I apply this polish and report back! The swatch below shows three coats plus top coat.

Sobriquet
This is a blackened jelly featuring blue, green, and a touch of copper microshimmer. The glossy formula self-levels nicely and becomes opaque after two easy coats. The swatch below shows two coats plus top coat.

Overall, I love the uniqueness of this Summer collection. And to my surprise, Bless be the Tide That Binds turns out to be favorite of the bunch. I do not gravitate towards glitter toppers in clear base but I love all of the elements in this polish.

I am not sure if these polishes will be restocked at OPNL but I suggest you give these a try if they are!
