Indie Swatch and Review - Peacock Holographic Chameleon Nail Powder from Born Pretty Store

Press Samples

Hello lovely readers!  Today I am reviewing the Peacock Holographic Nail Powder (item #40863) from Chinese vendor Born Pretty Store (BPS).

Swatch of Born Pretty Store peacock holographic nail powder item #40683 over black nail polish

Peacock holographic nail powders from BPS are multichrome powders with a strong holographic flair.

Per the PBS site, the nail powder is applied over black gel polish. For this type of nail powder, gel polish is recommended, as regular polish may affect the integrity of the product or may not yield the desired effect. However, I will show you below my results using regular nail polish.

To Use
  • Apply one to two coats of regular black nail polish as your base. The base does not have to be black, but a darker base will enhance the multichrome effect.
  • Once your base color is fully dry, apply a coat of a water-based top coat. I used the Peel-Off Base from Finger Paints. This is actually a base coat, as the name implies, but it works just fine!  It is also readily available at Sally Beauty.
  • Apply the nail powder by rubbing it on the nail surface. Make sure that your nail polish is fully dry before applying. To apply, use the sponge applicator than comes with the product or use a silicone powder applicator.
Optional: You may want to apply a top coat to extend the life of your manicure.

The swatches below show the nail powder (item #40863-L10) over a black creme polish with no glossy top coat. Swatches were photographed under LED lights.

The Peacock Holographic Nail Powders (BPS item #40863) are available in 8 different pigments and come in 0.5g ($3.99 US) and 1.0g ($6.99 US) options. Each powder container comes with a sponge applicator (same as an eye shadow applicator).

The item is available here. For reference, it took about 3 weeks for my press sample package to arrive to the US from China.

Overall, I am obsessed with this nail powder!  It combines two finishes that I love: multichrome and holo! The finish look is amazing and it was very easy to apply.

Do not be intimated and give this look a try at home!

These items were sent to me free of charge in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed our my own.
