Nothing to Disclose
Hello lovely readers! Today I am reviewing the Luxe Fragment collection by SinfulColors.
The Luxe Fragment collection is a limited edition released Fall 2016. It is comprised of 8 jelly "like" jeweled tone polishes with color coordinated shimmer, small shards, and small glitter.
The formulas are very similar so I will summarize my findings first. As I mentioned, they are jelly "like", which means they will require several coat for the polishes to be opaque. Otherwise, the glossy formulas self-leveled after the first coat. The shards and glitter are hard to remove for which I recommend a peel off base.
I am showing 2 coats plus top coat in all of the swatches below.
Couture for Sure
This is a bluish purple (blurple) polish featuring red microshimmer, and purple shard and glitter. The microglitter makes this polish look more red in the bottle.
Couture for Sure |
This is a green-leaning teal polish with blue microshimmer, shards, and glitter (this one leans a lot more green in real life). I still had a visible nail line after 2 coats of nail polish.
Don't Flake |
This is a gold polish with gold microshimmer, shards, and glitter. I still had a visible nail line after 2 coats of nail polish.
Gold a la Mode |
This is a pink polish with red microshimmer, shards, and glitter. Again, I still had a visible nail line after 2 coats of nail polish.
Piece Out Pink |
This is a gun metal polish with silver microshimmer, shards, and glitter.
Silver Slivers |
This is the same gun metal base as above but with gold microshimmer, shards, and glitter.
Strike a Pose |
This is a blue polish with blue microshimmer, shards, and glitter.
Tear it Up |
Walk the Walk
This is a dark magenta polish with red microshimmer, shards, and glitter. I'm a bit sad that this looks more red in the bottle vs the nail.
Walk the Walk |
Overall, I think this collection fell a bit short. Yes, I like the microshimmer and all of the special effects, but I felt it was too repetitive and the colors lack a bit of imagination. Also, Silver Sliver and Strike a Pose remind me of Pineapples Have Feelings Too and the likes by OPI (...sorry!).
These retail for $1.99 US and are available at Walgreens nationwide.
Did you get this collection or are you planning to? I would love to hear from you!
I like these a lot, especially the silver ones...much better than the OPI ones that are much more opaque, so the glitter is just lumps...
ReplyDeleteCouture for Sure and Walk the Walk are gorgeous and the standouts for me!
DeleteWalk the Walk is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really feeling these- they feel like they are missing something. That being said, I've not seen them around me so that may have something to do with it, lol!
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty, but they definitely aren't screaming 'Run out and get me!'
ReplyDeleteI've had to really slow down on Sinful Colors anyway, I have hundreds and probably only pull one out every 6-8 months.
Couture for Sure is a winner.
ReplyDeleteI'm always excited when mainstream brands play with finishes. I bet they would be awesome layered over an opaque color
ReplyDeleteI feel like they tried to dip their pinky toe into "indie" style and missed the mark. I will give them an A for Effort though. I'd love to see mainstream pushing the creative envelope.
ReplyDeleteWhile these are in fact pretty, I agree with you - nothing too unique. I feel like mainstreams just can't do glitter like the indies can ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried Sinful nail polish in a while, but these are all super pretty :-D
ReplyDeleteI havent seen these in forever. I need to go find this brand.
ReplyDeleteI really love that they used shards!
ReplyDeleteNot a bad collection! I like the gunmetal shades best, but I hear you on how unimaginative it seems.
ReplyDeleteLove these, nice change for sinful
ReplyDeleteThose colors are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAll those flakes! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on these.
ReplyDeleteLove a good SinfulColors collection!
ReplyDeleteOooo, Strike A Pose!!
ReplyDeleteI like the Luxe Fragment also!

Aww I love all the flakes I just wish they were more opaque! Beautiful swatches, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI used Sally Hansen Gunmetal under Silver Slivers and it turned out beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I may try this!
DeleteWalk the walk is not what I expected, just not impressed..
ReplyDeleteJust found these and had to see for myself. I feel the shimmer base alone would have been better. I like the glitter but because of it all the shimmers are a little lost.

ReplyDeleteI bought 4 of these at Wal-Mart on clearance for $1.00 each. I put all of mine over top other polishs (actually i just used one base color, a gray by cherry chree) and they turned out quite nice.
ReplyDeleteAmazing work nice photographs keep it up thank you for shearing.
