Swatch and Review - OPI Color Paint Collection Part I

Hello lovely readers! Today I am reviewing the Color Paint collection from OPI. This collection was released in Spring 2015 and consists of 9 blendable colors designed for nail art. I broke down the review in 3 parts. For part I, I will share swatches of Primarily Yellow, Purple Perspective, Chromatic Orange and Magenta Muse.

The polishes in this collection can be blended and this works best when you apply them over Silver Canvas, which is also part of the collection (more about this in part III). Since I found the formulas to be very similar, I will summarize my observations below before I share my swatches:
  • The formulas have a (somewhat thick) jelly-like consistency
  • The colors are highly pigmented and can stain
  • The colors build up quickly and most will become opaque after 2 coats
  • They can be used on their own as well as with the Silver Canvas
  • I had issues when I used them directly over my regular base coat (Yellow Stopper) so you may want to skip this step
For the swatches, I did 1 and 2 coats with or without the Silver Canvas base coat. Also, swatches are shown without any top coat.

Primarily Yellow - a butterscotch yellow that will is not opaque on its own after 2 coats

  4. I like these better over a silver base. The new formula X collection that's based on the same principle is nicer for me colour wise.

  11. Great review! I was really loving this collection at first, but I'm seeing more and more sheers for layering and nail art. My existing OPIs rarely get touched so I think I'm going to pass after all.
