Born Pretty Store Chameleon Flakies Swatch and Review (Item #40879)

Press Samples

Hello lovely readers!  Today on the blog I am reviewing chameleon neon powder mirror flakies (item #40879) from Born Pretty Store (BPS).

These loose flakies come in a small jar and with a sponge applicator. The can be applied over gel polish, but I chose to apply the flakies over regular polish.

Also, you can control how much flakies to apply, opting for a light application (as shown below) or full coverage for a mirror-like effect. The base color affects the look of the flakies, hence the chameleon reference.

To Use
  • Apply one to two coats of a creme or gel polish as your base.
  • Once your base color is fully dry, apply a coat of a water-based top coat. I used the Peel-Off Base from Finger Paints. This is actually a base coat, as the name implies, but it works just fine!  It is also readily available at Sally Beauty.
  • Apply the loose flakies by rubbing or dabbing them on the nail surface. Make sure that your nail polish is fully dry before applying, if you use regular polish.
  • To apply, use the sponge applicator than comes with the product or use a silicone powder applicator.

Optional: You may want to apply a top coat to extend the life of your manicure.

The swatches below are over black and cobalt blue cremes. Also, I applied a coat of a water-based polish to prevent pixelation, although you may want to try applying the flakies over  your regular top coat.

  16. Thanks for explaining what a "chameleon" flakie is - I've spent the better part of the last 12 months wondering LOL. How cool that their look depends on the base polish! I want a pot!
